Preliminary Design
NCS has experience in many aspects of the preliminary design stage of scheme development, from the most basic of ideas. At whatever stage of scheme concept, we are equipped to develop your vision to a stage where designs can be considered and made ready for approvals to proceed onto the detailed design stage of a project.
Apart from considering the aesthetic nature of the proposals, we look at other areas such as stakeholder aspirations, how the area works and ensuring the design benefits all users as well as ensuring it is ‘future proofed’. We have experience of gathering and assessing various data such as accident statistics, vehicle speeds / volumes, cycle flow and pedestrian flow information, all of which can help to build a picture of the current environment and assist us as to how improvements could be made.
We also have experience of supporting other consultants in developing preliminary designs for schemes by using their initial concepts and developing them for their client. Such schemes include Holborn Circus, Leytonstone High Road, John Carpenter Street and Aldgate.
Our ethos is to work with the client to push boundaries and ultimately develop high quality, practical and achievable preliminary designs. We also ensure that the delicate balance between aesthetics and the key fundamentals of the design (such as surveys, standards and guidance) are maintained, guaranteeing that schemes can be taken to the next stage without the need for drastic and often costly changes.
No matter the size or type of scheme, we are in a position to provide a first-class service. Below is a list of some of the different schemes we have worked on:
- Walking Schemes
- Cycling Schemes
