Aldgate Gyratory

On the Aldgate project, we collaborated with over 60 companies and consultants over a four-year period to deliver high-quality detailed designs for the client and principal contractor and to manage on-site construction. This area regeneration initiative aimed to drive transformational change by removing the outdated gyratory system, installing the City’s largest open space, and reconfiguring the surrounding public highway to enhance pedestrian and cyclist accessibility.

All services provided were developed to a standard that allowed construction to proceed smoothly, under budget, and within the client-specified time frames. A key highlight was our collaboration with the City of London Corporation and MacLeod Simmonds Ltd., which led to a Highways Award in 2018 for using radar survey data to save £2 million on utility diversions. Our scope of work included detailed design and construction package formation, extensive stakeholder liaison across various areas (such as structures, utility diversions, custom planters, fountains, plant rooms, archaeology, lighting, landscaping, and traffic signals), material specification, and construction project management and supervision of all construction elements, including structures, fountains, CCTV, and utilities.
